Introducing the ‘Celebrating Community Spirit’ Collection, raising a cuppa to the Australian enduring spirit and celebrating the community spirit of 6 much-loved Aussie towns.

For a limited time, each 1kg tin of NESCAFÉ BLEND 43 instant coffee will feature an illustration that highlights the community spirit in each of these six Aussie towns.

Which Aussie towns are featured?

NESCAFÉ BLEND 43 is proud to support six much loved Aussie towns: Mallacoota, Broken Hill, Toowoomba, Busselton, Willunga and Strahan. Each town was handpicked as they each demonstrate individual examples of ongoing community spirit and what it means to be Australian. Each 1kg tin of NESCAFÉ BLEND 43 will feature an illustration that highlights the community spirit in each of these towns. The designs range from a community rallying together in the event of a natural disaster, local sporting events that have led to international recognition, and the celebration of local food, wine, and art.

• Broken Hill, NSW - The Broken Hill community has created one of the most breathtaking sites in Australia in the stunning Living Desert Sculptures. These 12 landmark sandstone sculptures, featured on the unique instant coffee tin, sit amongst Broken Hill’s beautiful flora and fauna. Created by 12 international artists in 1993, the dramatic sandstone sculptures follow a trail through the centre of the Living Desert Reserve and leave visitors speechless - and the locals proud.
• Busselton, WA - If you’ve been sent a postcard from Busselton, in the Margaret River region, it probably had the iconic Busselton Jetty on it. The longest timber-piled jetty in the southern hemisphere stretching an impressive 1.8 kilometres in length, the Jetty even has its own train. If anyone you know has done the famous Busselton Jetty Swim, they’d probably say the warming cups of tea and coffee provided by the locals after the race also deserve to be commemorated.
• Mallacoota, VIC - Every year the coastal town of Mallacoota on the NSW and Victorian border welcomes families to its popular campsites. In the summer holidays, the town’s population doubles in size which brings life, jobs, and opportunities. The summer of 2019, however, brought the locals and visitors even closer together. Most of Australia watched as locals and tourists alike took refuge on the beach to escape the deadly fires, as seawater was the only guaranteed protection. Now the town of Mallacoota is rightly known for its strength of character, not just its stunning coastline.
• Strahan, TAS – No matter who you are or where you come from, you are welcomed with open arms at the infamous annual Mount Lyell Picnic. Hosted on the gorgeous West Strahan beach in Strahan, the Mount Lyell Picnic has been held on Australia Day for 123 years. Locals of all ages come for fun, games, food and laughs. It’s all run by volunteers and local businesses cover all the costs, so families can just sit back and relax and enjoy a lovely day out.
• Toowoomba, QLD - Known as the ‘Garden City’, fresh mountain and volcanic soils make it the ideal place to grow flowers. The town has created some of the most magnificent gardens in Australia. Thousands of people come to the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers each September to see over 250,000 blooms planted by the local council and an army of passionate volunteers in gardens across the city.
• Willunga, SA - The locals of Willunga in South Australia’s wine region pride themselves on something even more than their grapes – their friendliness. In 2007, the town of Willunga came up with the idea of hosting an event where everyone would be welcomed. The Fleurieu Folk Festival takes place over three days every October. It represents everything the town has to offer – local produce, great wine, handmade crafts and the best music and dancing for miles around.

How are we celebrating each town?

NESCAFÉ BLEND 43 is proud to partner with Rotary in Australia to provide these six Australian communities with a $5,000 grant to invest in an important community initiative. NESCAFÉ BLEND 43 has also gifted the selected Rotary Clubs with an allocation of limited-edition instant coffee tins featuring their town. These tins are to be used for the Club to on-sell, or donate to the local community, with any profits retained by each Club.

The initiative will build on the partnership between NESCAFÉ BLEND 43 and Rotary in Australia and continue to celebrate and support the people and community spirit of Australia.
